Events at the Rocky Hill Historical Society

Civil War Living History Day will be presented August 1, 2009, on the town green next to the Rocky Hill Town Hall from 9:30am to 3:00pm.

The following is the event schedule for the August 1, 2009 Civil War Living History Day. The majority of events will be held on the town campus between the Town Hall and the Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Station.

 Schedule of Events

9:30 - 10:30 am
Camp life of the soldier as presented by the CT 14th Infantry Volunteers Regiment
9:30 - 10:30 am
Guided tour of Civil War soldiers' grave sites at Center Cemetery
9:30 am - 3:00 pm Rocky Hill Fire Museum is open

9:30 am - 3:00 pm Academy Hall Museum is open with Civil War Exhibits and Talk.
10:00 am - 12:30 pm Cora J. Belden Library - Crafts and Games of the period
10:30 am Soldiers march to Center Cemetery for brief ceremony and a three-round volley salute
11:15 am Soldiers back in camp
11:15 am - 12:00 pm Drilling and Firing demonstrations
Noon Soldiers prepare their meals
12:30 pm Fire "Bucket Brigade" Contest at the Fire Museum (kids are most welcome to participate!)
1:00 - 2:00 pm Camp Life, Rifle - load in nine times, Knapsack vs. Blanket Roll
2:00 pm Drill and Firing demonstrations
3:00 pm Soldiers dismissed, event closes
